Is it a home or road game? Seemingly the most important question when determining how Utah will do week to week. The home and road splits are truly remarkable. The Utes have five conference wins over the past two seasons, and only one was away from Salt Lake City. When you consider Colorado and California have the same horrendous road record in that time, (1-8) it doesn't seem as bad. But is Utah as bad as the Buffs and Bears? Ask Stanford. Honestly, ask any team that visited Rice Eccles Stadium last year. Every home game last year could've been a win for the Utes, but a handful of plays kept them from scratching their way to the top end of the division standings. With five conference road games, not to mention a road trip to Michigan, it will be a tough climb to hush the critics of their road woes again. With their great home field advantage, it looks like two road wins are all Utah needs for a bowl appearance. Just two! And one of those road games is at Colorado, so find one other road victory for the Utes. Easier said than done. Home games against USC and Oregon give the opportunity for another big upset, so maybe even a 5-1 home record with a 1-5 road mark gets the job done. Anything less than five total wins and the whispers and rumors of a hot seat for Kyle Whittingham will become well known and public.
